Academy in way as York go for double

YORK Cricket Club will be hoping déjà vu can help add another trophy to the Clifton Park cabinet.

Marcus Wood and his men take on Yorkshire Academy in the Yorkshire League Cup final on Sunday only a week after beating the county youngsters to retain their Oxbridge ECB Yorkshire County Premier League title for the third year in a row.

There had been some doubt as to whether the game, at Headingley, would go ahead but, after Yorkshire Under-17s were defeated by Durham in their semi-final, it was judged the Academy final could take place.

Play starts at noon and ball-by-ball commentary on the final can be found by logging on to Yorkshire’s official website – www.yorkshireccc.com First up, though, is a final league match at Cleethorpes. With the title in the bag, there is nothing to play for but York will be keen to continue their 16-game unbeaten run.
