IT WAS a day of few surprises as the Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North season reached its mid-point, with victories for all six away sides leaving both ends of the table unchanged.

Jack Leaning batted the full 50 overs for York, remaining unbeaten on 154 in a total of 334-2 against Hull. An opening stand of 136 with Duncan Snell (64) was followed by a partnership of 122 with Yorkshire team-mate Matthew Waite (76) to put the leaders in a dominant position.

Waite (3-27) then took three of the hosts’ first four wickets and Daniel Woods (4-40) took four of the last five as the hosts were all out for 157, Tom Appleyard top scoring with 48.

An upset looked on the cards for a while at The Green after hosts’ Acomb reduced second-placed Harrogate to 16-3 as the visitors looked to make it three wins from four, Tom Neal taking all three wickets.

Edward Wilson (69) and Kallen Bond (32) brought their side back into the contest with a stand of 71, Wilson went on to add a further 72 with David Foster who steered the side to a four-wicket win with an unbeaten 67.

Earlier, Tom Geeson-Brown (4-39) and skipper George Ross (4-26) had both taken four wickets to bowl out the home side for 211.

There was a remarkable turnaround at Kings Mill Road where visitors Yorkshire Academy looked to be heading for defeat until a late order collapse saw them snatch an improbable victory.

Jordan Thompson held the visitors innings together with 70, Matthew Taylor (31no) and James Wharton (30) adding to their captain’s effort as Jamie Greavson (3-40) and Casey Rudd (3-57) each took three wickets from a total of 224-9.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore struck 49 from 18 balls to get the home side off to a flying start, and victory looked increasingly likely as they reached 185-5 before losing their last four wickets for only 16 runs.

Sam Drury was last out for 68, Jordan Thompson (4-30) and James Logan (5-45) ensuring their side kept up the pressure on the top two.

Stamford Bridge put an end to Sheriff Hutton Bridge’s five-match winning streak with a resounding victory at Moor Farm by 120 runs.

Will Rhodes turned in an excellent performance, scoring 117 in the visitors’ total of 232-8 which also included 45 from Sam Tennant while Rhodes' Yorkshire team-mate Karl Carver claimed figures of 5-58.

Rhodes (3-21) and Luke Robinson (3-34) then shared six wickets as the home side were bowled out for 112.

Woodhouse Grange made it three wins from their last four beating Clifton Alliance by eight wickets.

Steve Burdett took 4-24 and Josh Jackson 3-29 as the home side were all out for 123, the target proving just sufficient for both Chris Bilton (50no) and Mike Hattee (55no) to reach half-centuries.

The result leaves ‘Grange sitting comfortably in mid-table while divisional newcomers Alliance look to be locked in a battle with the sides around them to avoid relegation. Their only consolation was that this defeat came on a day when those others all lost out too.

Easingwold are the only side in the competition without a victory this season, their latest defeat coming at home to Scarborough whose total of 280-5 owed much to Oliver Stephenson’s (109) century.

Aubrey Towler responded with 75, but Linden Gray with 3-39 and a season’s best from the competition’s leading wicket-taker Ben Elvidge (5-30) meant the home team lost out by 101 runs.
