YORK CC are chasing a ‘hat-trick of hat-tricks’ when they host Scarborough tomorrow in Yorkshire Premier League North!

Captain Daniel Woods and fellow spin bowler Tom Pringle have both bagged hat-tricks in the last two weeks although not in consecutive games.

Rarely does any team post hat-tricks so frequently but, naturally, Woods is hoping that another is not too far away.

“There is always a lot of luck involved in getting a hat-trick,” he said. “I got one against Woodhouse Grange and Tom bowled beautifully to get his last weekend against Easingwold.

“We know there are no easy games in this league but we do have some momentum going now after good victories last weekend.”

A 10 point win against Easingwold maintained York’s lead over rivals Harrogate at the top of the YPLN table. Duncan Snell then hit 132 as York beat North East Premier League champions Chester-le-Street to reach the regional final of the Royal London Club Championship.

“It was a great weekend and we were delighted to get two victories against two difficult teams,” said Woods. “When you play for a club like York, there is an expectation to win every game you play and the club has a proud history in national knock-out competition.

“There is still a long way to go in the Club Championship and we play last year’s winners South Northumberland next in the Regional Final. But we will give it our best shot and see where it takes us.”

Chris Booth is unavailable for tomorrow’s clash with Scarborough due to work commitments but spinner Oliver Leedham returns to the side.

Harrogate will be looking for a maximum return when they host struggling Hull.

Woodhouse Grange meet Acomb in a game between two sides who are virtually neck-and-neck in the bottom five.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge could, potentially, climb to fourth in the table with a victory over bottom side Easingwold while Stamford Bridge host Driffield Town.
