THERE are new leaders of the ECB Yorkshire Premier League North after Harrogate maintained their winning start to the season – while nearest rivals York and Scarborough both lost for the first time.

Jack Potticary scored 74 and Kallum Bond 40 not out as the reigning champions raced to their fourth straight victory, needing just 17 overs to chase down Woodhouse Grange’s score of 154-9 at Sandhill Lane.

David Foster had earlier taken 3-32 as the visitors took charge, but were then frustrated by the hosts’ last wicket pair who held out to deny them maximum points.

York’s 100 per cent start came to an abrupt end as they were dismissed for just 100 by Yorkshire Academy at Weetwood.

Jordan Thompson finished with impressive figures of 3-4 and Matthew Taylor (3-20) also picked up three wickets.

The hosts had Benjamin Ainsley (46) and Jared Warner (60) to thank for their total of 229-8, as former Academy skipper Jack Leaning returned figures of 4-57.

The victory for the hosts, who were unbeaten in the league at home in 2016, means that record now stretches back to August 2015 and a run of 13 matches.

Stamford Bridge ended Scarborough’s winning start with a 45-run victory at Low Catton Road.

Yorkshire ‘s Will Rhodes (67) led the way for the home side with Ryan McKendry (48) and Kevin Murphy (33no) making useful contributions as they reached 209-8, despite five wickets from Ben Elvidge (5-49).

Jack Holt responded with 46 as the visitors closed on 164-9 to take a couple of points for their efforts.

There was a thrilling finish at Clifton Alliance where Paul Walton (36no) struck three sixes in the final over to secure the home side victory with just one ball to spare.

Chasing 258 for victory Jack Beath (41) and Greg Drewery (47) got the hosts off to a solid foundation with an opening stand of 95, but despite a half-century from Scott Hopkinson (52) it still took Walton’s late heroics.

Joshua Summerscales (3-56) – despite producing the days’ best bowling return – finished on the losing side. Kyle Waite had earlier made 74 and Paul Skilbeck 45 as the visitors went in search of their first win.

A century from Ben Kohler-Cadmore (144) at Kings Mill Road set up Driffield Town for a competition record equalling total of 355. He and Afaq Rahim shared a second-wicket stand of 132 against Acomb, for who Jack Spence took 4-89. Nick Hardgrave (3-44) and Jamie Greavson (3-49) then shared six wickets as the hosts were bowled out for 204, Joe Schofield top scoring with 52.

Dave Barrick’s outstanding 7-47 was not enough to secure a Hull win as they lost out to Sheriff Hutton Bridge by 56 runs, in a match which begun with both sides still searching for a first victory.

Louis Foxton (67) top scored as the home side reached 226, Mark Fisher (37) and Russ Robinson (31) also adding useful contributions.

It then took an unbeaten half-century from Steve Sergeant (53no) to ensure his side didn’t leave entirely empty-handed as they closed on 170-9 – but a fourth straight defeat sees them join Easingwold in the bottom two.
