WOODHOUSE Grange breezed through the opening round of the Rudgate Cup, the knockout competition which features clubs from Yorkshire Premier Leagues North and South.

Grange, who reached the semi-finals last year, scored 250-5 at Driffield before bowling out their hosts for 185 to record a comfortable 65-run victory.

Their reward is a trip to Yorkshire League North champions Harrogate.

It was a different story at The Green, where Acomb beat Easingwold by six wickets off the last ball of the match, the home side just about chasing down an excellent target of 295 for victory.

The victors in the next round will go to Stamford Bridge, who secured their passage in a one-sided game at Clifton Alliance.

The visitors scored 253 despite home skipper Scott Hopkinson taking 4-47. Donovan Sinclair top scored for Bridge with 57, with Stuart Boyle (48), Sam Tennant (38) and Ryan McKenry (32) also helping to boost the total.

Clifton Alliance's Australian import, Jack Beath, replied with 59 but the home side were bowled out for 147, Kevin Murphy finishing with 3-26.

The match between Scarborough and Hull finished with the sides level, both having scored 279 runs from their 45 overs.

Scarborough had lost only two wickets whereas Hull were all out, meaning the North Marine Road outfit went through to a second-round tie at Wickersley Old Village.

Also in the second round, due to take place on June 4, York will host Sheriff Hutton Bridge while cup holders Yorkshire Academy travel to reigning Yorkshire champions Wakefield Thornes.
