AFTER the rain of previous weeks had resolved things at both ends of the of the inaugural Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North table, the final round of matches arrived and sides were able to reflect on the season.

Champions Harrogate will go into next Saturday’s Yorkshire Leagues Championship play-off in buoyant mood after they ended a successful campaign with a two wicket win over Stamford Bridge at St George’s Road.

Stuart Boyle (70) held the innings together for the visitors who stumbled to 152 all out, David Foster (3-19) the pick of nine bowlers used by the home side.

The hosts were in trouble at 104-7, despite 40 from skipper George Ross, as Dominic Rhodes (4-52) and Donovan Sinclair (3-33) threatened an upset. But, as on a number of occasions this season, the lower order saw them home with Harry Stow finishing unbeaten on 22.

York openers Duncan Snell (92) and Jack Leaning (89) produced the league's first double century stand, the pair's 205 proving the perfect springboard for a total of 324-4 despite rain reducing the match at Driffield Town to 45 overs a side.

The total also included 58 from Liam McKendry whilst Jamie Hopper finished with figures of 3-70.

Sam Drury (65) took the game to the visitors but lacked support as Dan Woods (6-59) and Tom Pringle (3-24) spun York to victory by 182 runs, securing them runners-up spot.

The competition's leading wicket-taker James Logan was denied the chance to add to his 66 victims as Yorkshire Academy’s match at Hull was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Both sides ending their campaigns on a run of three washed out matches, and whilst the Academy could reflect on a third place finish and victory in the JP Plant Yorkshire League Cup, Hull were left to ponder a sixth place finish after such a promising start.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge may have been contemplating an early finish after they reduced Dunnington to 97-8 at Moor Farm with three wickets each for Freddie Collins (3-46) and Danny Clipston (3-31).

But a ninth wicket partnership of 80 between Ollie Sherwood (50no) and Harwood Williams (36) restored some pride as the hosts were set 195 to win.

Mark Fisher (78) and Karl Carver (31) looked to have the chase under control before three quick wickets saw them get home seven down, Jake Murphy taking 3-53.

Acomb ended the season on a high note with victory at home to Woodhouse Grange.

Chris Bilton batted almost 40 over to finish unbeaten on 90, Andrew Bilton (37) the only other batsmen to pass 20 in a total of 189-8, Joe Dale finishing with 4-40.

Matthew Dale and Aiden Burton both made 51 and Joe Dale 43 as the home side triumphed for the loss of three wickets.

Theo Smith took 7-47 but was unable to prevent Castleford signing off with victory at Scarborough in the day's closest finish as the visitors salvaged some pride from a difficult season.

Liam Hyde (45) and Mohammad Waqas (34) put on 63 for the second wicket but when the last six wickets added only 21 runs their side were all out for 149.

Smith then made 33 before the visitors fought back, reducing the hosts to 89-8 with two wickets each for Connor Hyde (2-38), Daniel Robson (2-21) and David Wainwright (2-29).

A partnership of 43 between Kristian Wilkinson (24no) and Jack Holt (18) got their side in sight of victory but Eddie Morrison (4-28) held his nerve in the closing overs to bowl out the home side 10 runs short of their target.
