HARROGATE extended their lead at the top of the Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North thanks to their tenth straight win – the latest coming at the expense of hosts Scarborough.

A second century this season from opener Matthew Good (123no) and a partnership of 151 with Jonathan Tattersall (61) allowed the St George’s Road side to chase down Scarborough’s 225 with 11 overs to spare.

Earlier Nick Taylor (4-53) and Harry Stow (3-73) had helped bowl out a home side which had been in trouble at 80-7 before Theo Smith (74) and Jack Holt (40) pulled the innings round.

Smith was the last wicket to fall, run out off the final ball, giving the visitors a chance to take maximum points.

There was late drama at Low Catton Road as second-placed York lost ground on the leaders going down to defeat by a single wicket.

Hosts Stamford Bridge looked to be cruising on 151-3 chasing 164 for victory but then six wickets fell in as many overs, three whilst the scores were level, before the contest was decided by a wide with the last man on strike.

Daniel Woods (3-34) and Tom Pringle (3-42) finished with three wickets a piece after Stuart Boyle (54) had given his side a solid start.

Yorkshire’s Will Rhodes (6-36) had earlier torn through the visitors’ batting line up with Liam McKendry (73) making the only notable contribution.

James Logan repeated his early season feat of taking seven wickets in an innings as Yorkshire Academy beat bottom side Dunnington to move up to third place in the table.

The spinner finished with figures of 7-40 as the visitors were bowled out for 129 in reply to the home sides total of 216-7.

Matthew Waite (39) and Jordan Thompson (69no) shared a stand of 53 but it was the latter’s partnership of 94 with skipper Jared Warner (39) that boosted the score from 111-6 to give them a defendable total.

Woodhouse Grange eased their relegation fears with a first win in six attempts beating Sheriff Hutton Bridge by 39 runs. Chris Bilton (79) and Mike Burdett (39no) added 105 for the fourth wicket, and contributions from Andrew Bilton (35) and Scott Shepherd (32) got the hosts to 224-4.

They were then indebted to Josh Jackson who finished with 6-41 from 16 overs, as despite eight of the visitors’ line up reaching double figures none were able to play the decisive innings the chase required.

Adam Fisher was the best with 34, before the final pair batted out seven overs to deny the hosts maximum points and in doing so earn their side a couple.

Castleford came within a whisker of recording what would have been their second victory of the season only to be denied in the final over of the match by a Hull side which has now won four in a row.

There was little to indicate a close finish when three wickets from Shivil Kaushik (3-44) helped bowl out the home side for 156, James Sykes' unbeaten 64 the highlight for the batting side.

Five wickets from David Wainwright (5-25) reduced the visitors to 110-7 before Ross Davy (31no) secured victory with a ball to spare and the final pair at the wicket.

An unbroken stand of 169 for the fourth wicket between Ali Asad (63no) and Sam Drury (104) helped Driffield Town overcome Acomb after the visitors had been in trouble three wickets from Tom Neal reduced them to 22-3.

Jordan Caley (5-46) had earlier picked up five wickets as the hosts were bowled out for 187, Matthew and Joe Dale joint top scorers with 30.
