YORK will look to ramp up the pressure on the Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North leaders tomorrow when they head to Stamford Bridge.

Harrogate currently lead the way, and an away test at Scarborough this weekend will again test their title credentials.

Elsewhere in the division, Acomb host Driffield Town, Woodhouse Grange entertain Sheriff Hutton Bridge, Dunnington visit Yorkshire Academy, and Castleford are at home to Hull.

York will travel to their local rivals full of confidence following their 106-run victory against Dunnington last time out.

Duncan Snell became the first York batsman to make a century in the league as the Clifton Park side eased to a win.

Persistent light rain delayed the start of the match by an hour and a half reducing the contest at Common Road to 38 overs a side.

And, having been put in the visitors, York lost an early wicket when Joe Ashdown was caught behind in the second over.

Things should have been worse for the visitors when at the start of the same bowler’s next over Snell edged the ball to slip but former York all-rounder Jake Murphy spilled the chance.

The opener took full advantage, sharing a second wicket partnership of 111 with Liam McKendry who came within a run of a second half-century in three games before being bowled by Joshua Barrett.

Ryan McKendry replaced his brother and contributed 26 from 21 balls to a partnership with Snell, which produced 50 runs from five overs.

Chris Booth replaced McKendry after he was bowled by Tom Loten, but there was no let up in the run rate, Snell reaching his century from 117 balls.

He was finally dismissed with the total on 211in the 36th over, Jack Bolam taking the catch at long on to give Loten a second wicket, followed quickly by a third as Charlie Elliot was bowled in the final over.

Booth finished unbeaten on 35 from 19 balls as some audacious stroke-play took the final total to 243-5.

Openers Adam Sutcliffe and Collis King played comfortably through the opening overs until Elliot picked up both of their wickets.

King was bowled off the first ball of his fourth over and Sutcliffe was caught by Liam McKendry at slip off the last as 20-0 quickly became 21-2.

Daniel Barrett’s was then out lbw to Woods for 21 off 23 balls.

And when Steve Liburd was caught by a diving Richard Love at cover to give Elliot his third wicket the writing was on the wall.

Jack Bolam became the seamer’s fourth victim when bowled with the total on 57, and only a single was added before Murphy was caught at slip by Ryan McKendry as Wood picked up his second.

Harwood Williams was seventh out with the total on 76, giving Elliot had his second five-wicket haul of the season.

Oliver Sherwood hit 47 off 28 balls before being bowled by Tom Pringle.

That left York needing two wickets to take maximum points and Ryan McKendry (2-23) captured both courtesy of the safe hands of Love at mid-on.
