HARROGATE maintained their five-point lead at the top of the Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North with victory at Woodhouse Grange, while nearest rivals York kept up the pressure beating Dunnington.

At the other end of the table, Scarborough and Acomb both eased their relegation worries with victories on a day on which rain threatened to play havoc with the matches, but only one game failed to reach a conclusion.

Teenager Harry Stow was the star of Harrogate’s victory at Woodhouse Grange, the youngster’s 6-17 coming as the home side collapsed from 66-3 to 92 all out.

Mike Burdett top-scored with 31 as they replied to the visitors’ 150-9 in a match reduced to 34 overs per side.

It took a seventh-wicket partnership of 57 between Nick Taylor (30) and Jonathan Tattersall, who went on to finish unbeaten on 61, for them to post that total after they had been in trouble on 67-6.

York opener Duncan Snell’s impressive run of form continued with a century as the visitors scored 243-5 in 38 overs against bottom side Dunnington as he added 111 for the second wicket with Liam McKendry (49), Tom Loten (3-62) picking up three wickets.

The hosts never got going thanks to a second five-wicket haul this season for Charlie Elliot (5-24).

Oliver Sherwood offered some consolation with an enterprising 47 from 28 balls before the home side slumped to their tenth defeat of the season.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge and Yorkshire Academy both lost ground on the top two when their match at Weetwood was abandoned, although the hosts had most reason to be disappointed as the visitors were down to their last-wicket pair.

Matthew Waite (60) and Mosun Hussain (54no) shared a stand of 91 from just 12 overs to boost their side's total to 158 from 20 overs after former team-mate Karl Carver (2-38) had picked up two early wickets.

Mark Fisher then led the visitors’ response with 28 before the competition’s leading wicket-taker James Logan took 4-20 to leave the visitors hanging on still 58 runs adrift.

Hull made it three wins in a row as they triumphed at Stamford Bridge by seven wickets, bowling out their hosts for just 74, Andrew Simpson finishing with 3-6, Steven Sergeant 2-23 and Shivil Kaushik 2-16.

Simpson then top-scored with 27 as the visitors continued their recent good run.

Acomb proved too strong for Castleford, despite the efforts of the host's skipper David Wainwright (4-46 and 48no). Jonny Rawsthorne hit an unbeaten 42 in the visitors’ 176-7, which also included contributions from Andy Tute (33) and Joe Dale (34).

Liam Hyde (23) joined Wainwright in offering resistance, helping to prevent their opponents collecting maximum points, but a total of 105-8 did little to aid the home side's plight as they remain in the relegation places.

Scarborough gained revenge for their opening-day defeat with a 45-run victory against Driffield Town.

Neil Elvidge (48no) and Darren Harland (45) led the assault as the home side scored 190-7 from just 28 overs, despite Alec Drury’s (4-47) attempts to apply the brakes.

A second-wicket partnership of 71 between Ben Kohler-Cadmore (44) and Casey Rudd (40) came at quicker than the required rate for the visitors, but following their departure, the remainder of the line up could only muster 44 between them, with Ben Elvidge finishing with 4-24.
