WOODHOUSE Grange II were unable to put the brakes on leaders Ripon in Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League Galtres division two.

Gary Blackburn led the way, smashing five sixes in a score of 91 in Ripon's 236-5.

Grange bowler Tom Stubley (4-40) eventually got rid of Blackburn.

In reply, Grange only managed 134, Blackburn taking 3-36.

On a day when several players reached the 90s, there were two in the drawn clash between Duncombe Park (205-7) and Pannal (259-6) at Helmsley - Rob Ellis scoring 93 for the visitors and the prolific Brian Leckenby 95 for Park.

Sessay bagged their third outright win after beating Wetherby by nine wickets.

The visitors were bowled out for 113 as Chris Spence took 3-8 and Richard Till 3-25. Sessay's reply was built around Matthew Wass (42no) and Mark Jackson (52).

Max Cosgrove (72no) top-scored for Easingwold II (250-6) at home to Tadcaster Magnet (191-8) as they just missed out on maximum points.

In the top four clash at Thirsk (191-8), the hosts, inspired by Stuart Christon’s 70, nearly chased down the first innings 217-7 set by Sheriff Hutton Bridge II, for whom Jack Hugill scored 55 and Nick Scaling 41.

Thorp Arch & Boston Spa (202-9) beat Hovingham (158-10) thanks to knocks of 62 from Andrew Gough and 59 not out from Adam Jones, despite Tom Lund taking 5-29 and Richard Swan hitting 61 in the' reply.

In Galtres division three, Steve Crowder continued his good form as he hit 110 for Stillington who had the better of a draw at home to Woodhouse Grange III (199-5), for whom Ben Alport took 3-55 and scored 35 not out.

York IV (212-5) had a five-wicket win at Civil Service II (209-9) with Tom Boyle unbeaten on 74 after Ian Clish (111) had scored his second century of the season.

Huby (146-9) beat Dringhouses II (142-9) in a nailbiting finish by one wicket with two balls to spare.

Despite only posting 130, New Earswick beat hosts Rowntrees & Huntington (65) by 65 runs as Aaron Reed took 3-12 and Paul Stimpson 3-24. In the first innings, the prolific Steve Beales had bagged 3-27 and Max Hunter 4-19.

Sheriff Hutton (201-4) left Tadcaster Magnet II (200-7) with a six-wicket win thanks to Geoff Schofield (75no) and David Hull (36no).

In Galtres division four, Osbaldwick II (78-5) beat visiting Duncombe Park II (77-10) by five wickets after 14-year-old Alex Hay took 4-14 from five overs during the first innings.

At Sheriff Hutton II (69-10), visitors Stillington II (73-1) owed much of their nine-wicket win to the all-round performance of Neil Haines (33 and 4-18).

New Earswick II (97-8) beat Copmathorpe 11 (96-10) in yet another low-scoring encounter, while at Hovingham II (195-7) Richard John scored 62 as the hosts posted the highest score in the division when beating Huby II (104-10) by 91 runs.
