YORKSHIRE's Jack Leaning and team-mate Duncan Snell helped York CC move up to second spot in Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North after a comprehensive victory over Sheriff Hutton Bridge.

Leaning (71 not out) and Duncan Snell (65no) enjoyed an unbroken partnership of 122 as York stormed to a nine wicket win.

Skipper Adam Fisher stood out for SHB with an excellent 81 but lacked support as his side were bowled out for 170, Ryan McKendry (3-17) and Dan Woods (3-37) finishing with three wickets a piece.

Another of the county side's rising stars, Karl Carver, took the solitary wicket for the home side as the visitors raced home with more than ten over to spare, a result which places them just three points behind league leaders Harrogate who narrowly beat Yorkshire Academy.

Having being put into bat, Yorkshire Academy found themselves in trouble when Harrogate’s Nick Taylor took five of the first six wickets and the visitors stood on 109-6, which included 47 from opener Mosun Hussain.

Ed Barnes (25) and Jared Warner (39) helped pull things round as the innings eventually closed on 185-9.

Jonathan Tattersall scored 49 as James Logan (5-39) made it difficult for the hosts but, when he was out with the total on 156, late drama ensued - the next two wickets falling cheaply before a last wicket stand of 23 between Tom Geeson-Brown and Harry Stow secured the narrowest of victories with just four balls to spare.

Dunnington’s long wait for their first victory of the campaign ended as Adam Sutcliffe (57no) and Jack Bolam (48) guided them to a seven wicket win at Hull.

Four wickets for Steve Liburd (4-32) and three each from Joshua Barrett (3-34) and Dave Brent (3-55) helped set up the win, bowling out the hosts for 146, only Matthew Wilkinson (44) making a telling contribution.

The hosts’ Indian left-arm spinner Shivil Kaushik marked his debut with two wickets but the visitors were always in control and will now be looking to build on their success.

Acomb inflicted a fourth straight defeat on Stamford Bridge in an extraordinary game at The Green in which both sides were bowled out for under 100. Opener Matthew Dale (40) took the batting honours as the only player on either side to go beyond 20.

The home side made a promising start as Dale and Andy Tute shared an opening stand of 50 but then Dominic Rhodes (4-20) and Donovan Sinclair (4-23) combined to devastating effect as only 45 further runs were added.

At 60-2, the visitors may have been forgiven for thinking victory was well within their grasp - but it was snatched away in dramatic circumstances by Joe Dale (5-10) and Mark Bell (4-21) and they were all out for 90.

Three wickets each for Sam (3-11) and Alec Drury (3-34) Drury helped set Driffield Town on the way to a five wicket win over Castleford who were indebted once again to David Wainwright (57) but, despite his third consecutive half-century, the home side could only manage 138-9. Ben Dobson responded with 60 before Sam Drury capped a fine individual performance with an unbeaten 34 to take his side over the line.

It was third time lucky for Scarborough as they won by just six runs against Woodhouse Grange, having previously been on the wrong end of two matches with similarly narrow margins.

Oliver Stephenson (66) and Mark Tennant’s (42) second wicket stand of 94 provided more than half their sides’ total of 187-7, Josh Jackson the pick of the visitors attack with 3-44.

Andrew (41) and Chris Bilton (36) provided a solid foundation for the visitors' chase but only Mike Burdett (45no) made use of it as the rest of the line up struggled, Ben Elvidge finishing with 4-54, although a final total of 181-8 was enough to secure the visitors four points.
