HULL and Sheriff Hutton Bridge kept up the pressure on leaders York in the Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North.

The game of the day was at North Marine Road where, for the second time this season, the home side came up just short.

Having lost a couple of weeks ago to Hull by nine runs, Scarborough got to within five of victory but will feel this was an opportunity squandered, having needed nine to win from the four overs with four wickets in hand.

The run out of Darren Harland (73) started the late collapse of three wickets for four runs, Karl Carver (5-44) picking up two wickets and having a hand in two runs out in the frantic finale as visitors Sheriff Hutton Bridge held their nerve to record a third straight victory.

Earlier Mark Fisher made 92 out of 228 as the visitors were kept in check by Ben Elvidge (4-57) and Jack Holt (3-44).

Hull continued their good start to the season with a 50-run victory at Acomb. Jahangir Alam (4-43) and Jack Storey (4-36) helped dismiss the hosts for 160, skipper Andy Tute making 58. That came in reply to 210-9, Andrew Simpson (65) and Tom Appleyard (54no) doing well as Joe Dale took 4-37.

It took leaders York just three hours to record an eight-wicket victory at Castleford, Charlie Elliot (3-31), Jack Leaning (3-20) and Tom Pringle (3-10) being instrumental in bowling out the hosts for 99.

Leaning then finished on 47 not out as the visitors continued their unbeaten start.

Two sides with unbeaten records met at Stamford Bridge, and the home side beat Yorkshire Academy by 40 runs.

Stuart Boyle (57) and Alex MacQueen (51) shared an 89 stand for the third wicket as Bridge reached 231-8, which included a quickfire 33 from Donovan Sinclair.

Jordan Thompson replied with an unbeaten 71 but it proved in vain as they were all out for 191, MacQueen finishing with 3-48.

A century partnership between Ali Asad (78) and Sam Drury (88no) helped Driffield Town to a five-wicket win at St George’s Road.

Alec Drury (5-57) and Nick Hardgrave (3-58) did the damage as Harrogate were bowled out for 226.

Two sides searching for their first win met at Sandhill Lane, and hosts Woodhouse Grange triumphed by seven wickets.

Skipper Jack Bolam (40) top-scored for visitors Dunnington but, thanks to Dave Suddaby (4-40) and Andrew Horner (3-47), they only made 184-9.

Bilton brothers Andrew (50) and Chris (77no) then helped the home side reach their target with ease.
