THE new Hunters ECB Yorkshire Premier League North began with a whimper last week – with all but two games falling foul of the weather.

Perhaps the fireworks will begin to fly this weekend as York, who overcame Dunnington by 100 runs last Saturday, travel to Sutton upon Derwent to meet another of the promoted York Senior League sides Woodhouse Grange.

Duncan Snell (78) and captain Dan Woods (5-18) were in formidable form for York on the opening day.

Acomb welcome Harrogate to The Green for what will be a first match of the season for both sides.

Adam Fisher will hope to lead his Sheriff Hutton Bridge side into their YPLN debut at Savile Park, Castleford, after their home game against the Yorkshire Academy side was washed out.

Two former York Senior League sides meet as Stamford Bridge entertain Dunnington. The latter were given a harsh introduction to the league at York. They appeared to be unfazed at 40-0 replying to York's 190-3 until Woods introduced himself to York's attack, precipitating the collapse to 90 all out.

Scarborough, who fell to a 115-run defeat at Driffield Town last week, entertain Hull, while Town face the Yorkshire Academy boys.

All fixtures in the newly-reconfigured Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier league were called off last weekend.

Bolton Percy head to Beverley Town this time around hoping to make their mark, while Sessay head to former foes Easingwold to try for their first meaningful play of the season.

Newly-promoted Pickering will be keen to have their first taste of premier division action when they take on Goole Town at Mill Lane.

Heworth's new captain Graham Knott hopes to have the chance to lead out his side when they head to Studley Royal. Heworth have recruited well in the close season and have lofty ambitions in the top flight.

An all York match is set up at Shipton Road where York Seconds entertain Clifton Alliance. It will be the first of a double header for the Alliance boys who then entertain Richmondshire in the 1st XI Cup.

A highlight in the York & District Senior League division one will be the tussle when Malton & Old Norton entertain Bridlington.

Folkton and Flixton tried to get started last week, making 14-0 against Bridlington, before the rain intervened so they will be keen to get a game on at Osbaldwick, who are keen to introduce a number of new faces to the club.

Pocklington start their campaign at Harrogate Seconds, while Selby entertain Sewerby.
