York Cricket Club have been handed a tough task in both domestic cup competitions following the draws made at the Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB County Premier League annual meeting.

In the Knockout Cup, as reigning league champions, they receive a bye in the first round.

But they are then drawn at home against last year’s league runners-up, Yorkshire Academy, providing the Academy overcome Rotherham Town in the opening round.

With both Scarborough and Driffield Town in the same half of the draw things are unlikely to get any easier in the semi-final.

York will take on Harrogate for the third consecutive season in the T20 competition.

Success would then lead to a likely group final against Driffield Town, who won the event in the summer, and were also the team that knocked York out at the semi-final stage last season, for a place at North Marine Road on Finals Day.
