LEADERS York racked up a record total en route to a 275-run win over Barnsley in the Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB County Premier Cricket League.

The Clifton Parkers declared on 425-3, with Duncan Snell eclipsing his previous weekend’s career-best 157 by smashing 187 from 138 balls, with 11 sixes and 19 fours.

Liam McKendry also scored his second century in a week, finishing on 100 not out from 59 balls.

Jack Leaning’s half-century was overshadowed by his outstanding performance with the ball, ending with figures of 5-10 from 13.5 overs as Barnsley were all out for 150.

York chose to bat first and took advantage of some wayward bowling from a makeshift Barnsley attack containing four teenagers.

Snell dominated, with 40 of his first 50 runs coming in boundaries as the scoreboard rattled along to 100 inside 16 overs. The total included 42 extras at that stage and Barnsley leaked 20 more by the end of the innings.

Snell pulled Gary Nuttall to square-leg for four to pass 1,000 runs for the season and he hit Ahmid Yar for two sixes to raise the 150 off only 22 overs.

Such was his dominance, he reached his century from 89 balls before Leaning reached fifty.

Having played the supporting role in the stand of 221, Leaning reached his half-century from 83 balls, but was out to the next ball he faced.

McKendry and Snell put on 124 off only 66 balls, McKendry completing the side’s fastest fifty of the competition in only 32 deliveries.

A double-century was within reach for Snell when he misjudged a single and was run out with the total on 345.

Oli Hairs was bowled behind his legs for a single before Alex Collins (25) helped add a further 79 for the fourth wicket, allowing McKendry to reach 100 to trigger the declaration. Matthew Wilson top-scored in Barnsley’s reply with 69 as only two wickets fell in the first 30 overs.

A dramatic collapse was sparked by skipper Daniel Woods catching Wilson off his own bowling as four further wickets fell without addition, so 133-3 became 133-8.

Leaning wrapped up the innings to secure maximum points with only 19 balls to spare.
