YORK Cricket Club will look to stregthen their firm grip on the Solly Sports Yorkshire ECB County Premier League title by beating old rivals tomorrow.

The Clifton Parkers host Barnsley knowing victory could extend their 20- point advantage at the top of the table.

After edging past second- placed Yorkshire Academy in a match where wickets tumbled regularly last weekend, captain Dan Woods and his men then thrashed Hull and are 35 points clear of Harrogate in third spot.

There will be no let-up against a Barnsley side who were traditionally York’s main rivals for the league crown a few seasons ago and the South Yorkshire outfit will encounter a strong home side.

Duncan Snell and Jack Leaning will open the batting but, should either fail, York’s strength in depth through Liam and Ryan McKendry, Alex Collins and Oli Hairs should shine through.

York have three of the top ten run-scorers in the league.

Meanwhile, Woods, by far the leading wicket-taker in the league with 73 dismissals, will look to wreak havoc when the Clifton Parkers are inthe field.
