YORKSHIRE Carnegie's Anthony McGrath overshadowed the return of Darren Gough as he helped skittle Derbyshire Phantoms in the Friends Provident Trophy.
McGrath was in devastating form, taking three wickets from his four overs for only 16 runs in a contest that was reduced to 24 overs a side after heavy rain delayed the start.
"I've not got many runs so far this season so I thought I'd better put my hand up and get some wickets," said McGrath.
"We knew Lancashire had beaten Scotland, so we really needed these two points to get ourselves off and running. The game turned out to be like a Twenty20 game and they're a dangerous side in that competition, so we're delighted with the win."
After Gerard Brophy went for a duck, Michael Vaughan looked temporarily assured at the crease before he tried to launch Tom Lungley over deep square while on 16, only to find Graham Wagg underneath it with safe hands.
Andrew Gale quickly followed, controversially caught by Rikki Clarke although Gale had appeared to stub the ball into the ground before it was taken at short-leg.
An unbeaten 41 from Adil Rashid dragged the home side to 119.
The Phantoms never looked like winning as Tim Bresnan began the demolition by striking twice early on.
Derbyshire were rocking when Deon Kruis bowled Steve Stubbings for three.
Richard Pyrah got in on the act with two wickets. His first ball trapped Clarke, who had made one from 14 balls, and Pyrah followed up to dismiss James Pipe for 20.
At 61-6, the Phantoms were struggling and McGrath's medium pace took the game out of sight, before Jonathan Clare was run-out.
Gough had the last laugh as he had Charl Langeveldt caught by Rashid and the visitors were all out for 94, 25 runs short.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, Yorkshire wrapped up victory over Hampshire in the County Championship by an innings and 27 runs.
Matthew Hoggard added two more scalps to take his match tally to eight, as Yorkshire claimed the four wickets they required with consummate ease. England discard Hoggard ripped out Shane Bond's middle stump to bring an emphatic end to proceedings.
He said: "It's nice to get a few wickets. It was a massive team effort and I got the rewards for the work of everyone else. I need to put some pressure on the selectors to get back in the England side."
