YORKSHIRE seamer Matt Fisher will sit out today’s third ODI between England’s under 19s and their Indian counterparts in Mumbai due to a tight groin.

The England management are taking a cautious approach with the 19-year-old, who missed all of last summer with hamstring injuries.

Fisher will hand over the captaincy to Max Holden, on loan at Northants in 2017, after taking four wickets in each of the first two matches, of which England have won and lost one.

“I felt my groin a bit in the second game, but it’s not a tear, just a pull, and the tests I’ve had on it have confirmed that,” explained Fisher.

“There’s no point rushing back if I’m not 100% - and there’s no reason the lads can’t win the third game, if we play to our potential, and then I can come back in for the last two games.

“I think we can all take a lot of confidence from the way we’ve played so far.

“To win the first game was a great feeling, and although we fell short of those standards the other day, we’re all confident we can bounce back.”

Fisher also reserved praise for fellow Yorkshire teenager Harry Brook, who scored a half-century in the first ODI.

He added: “I’m really pleased for Harry.

“I’m rooming with him, and I think he’s really grown in confidence from the time he’s had in the middle in the first two games.

“He maybe didn’t have the belief to start with, but now he knows he belongs here. He hit a couple of sixes the other day, and he’s determined to go on and get a big score.”
