WARWICKSHIRE will be the happier of the two sides at lunch on day one of their Specsavers County Championship Division One clash at Edgbaston, having taken three cheap Yorkshire wickets.

The visitors, whose captain Andrew Gale opted to toss and then won it, have been undone by a couple of loose shots on the way to 82-3 in the 28th over at lunch, taken ten minutes early due to rain.

The champions lost three wickets for ten runs in 40 balls to slip from 46-0 in the 16th over to 56-3 in the 23rd, with swing on offer for the home bowlers.

Gale, Alex Lees and Adam Lyth have all fallen for less than 20, Lees and Lyth making 19 apiece.

Rikki Clarke uprooted Lees’ middle and off stumps before Boyd Rankin forced Lyth to miscue a pull to Ian Bell at mid-off.

Gale was then bowled by a full ball from Keith Barker, and there seemed to be some inside edge involved.

Gary Ballance and Jonny Bairstow have reached 13 and 17 not out respectively at the break.
