YORKSHIRE, led by Jonny Bairstow and Liam Plunkett, have dominated the second morning of their Specsavers County Championship clash with Hampshire at Headingley in staggering fashion to put the visitors under the cosh.

The champions have moved from 270-5 from 75 overs overnight to 506-6 from 106 at lunch, meaning an incredible 236 runs were scored in 31 overs this morning.

Yorkshire only scored 270 runs all yesterday.

Bairstow reached 150 off 206 balls with 20 fours and a six, and he has moved to 209 not out.

Plunkett only came to the crease at 11.52am, but he has reached lunch unbeaten on 94 from 73 balls.

Bairstow shared 99 for the sixth wicket with Adil Rashid (34) in a partnership which started last night before adding 158 for the seventh with Plunkett inside 19 overs.

Rashid was caught behind down the leg-side off James Tomlinson, leaving the score at 348-6 in the 88th over.
