NORMAL service has resumed for Yorkshire after an early wobble against Hampshire, with the champions grateful for an unbroken 194-run partnership between centurion Adam Lyth and Jonny Bairstow.
Having slipped to 41-3 during the opening session of their Specsavers County Championship campaign, the champions have since reached tea at 235-3 from 63 overs.
Lyth has posted his first Championship century since September 2014, while Bairstow is closing in on his sixth competition century in ten starts since the beginning of last season.
Hampshire’s South African overseas seamer Ryan McLaren was taken apart immediately after lunch, going for 41 in four overs.
Bairstow dominated the bowling during the first half of the session on the way to a 53-ball fifty, while Lyth took over as tea approached.
He had earlier brought up his half-century off 115 balls and went on to bring up his ton off 177.
Lyth will resume after tea on 110 and Bairstow 84.
