JACK Brooks has struck twice and Karl Carver and Adam Lyth once apiece during the opening morning of Yorkshire’s friendly against Leeds-Bradford MCC Universities at Headingley.
The students have reached lunch at 92-4 in the 37th over after electing to bat.
Brooks bowled Steve Bullen and had Joe Root’s brother Billy caught and bowled after he misjudged a short ball, leaving the score at 11-2 in the eighth.
Christian Davis lofted Karl Carver for six in his first over, but the left-arm spinner gained revenge by trapping him lbw as the students fell to 59-3 in the 26th.
Opener Henry Thompson has resisted for 50 not out, but he saw fourth-wicket partner George Scott depart lbw to Lyth’s off-spinners in the final over of the session.
