YORKSHIRE have revealed that 80 per cent of Saturday tickets for this summer’s Investec Test match at Headingley have already been sold.

The match - England's opening Test of the summer against Sri Lanka, starting on Thursday, May 19 - is proving a big draw for fans, say the club, following on from the recent series victory against the world's number one team, South Africa.

Yorkshire say sales are ahead of the same period a year ago, with a number of areas of the ground sold out, including the White Rose Stand’s Fanzone and Popular enclosures and the North East Stand. Only single seats remain in the East Stand and Main Stand.

“It is a great position to be in that we are heading for a sell-out on the Saturday of the Test match,” said Yorkshire chief executive Mark Arthur.

“With England improving with every series and players across the northern counties - including Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, Durham and Lancashire - doing well in the squad, there is great interest in the game across the region.

"Having England start their summer season at Headingley is also a massive benefit to us.

“Those supporters that are interested in attending the Test on the Saturday need to move quickly to secure their seat. We have availability in the Community Stand, which is ideal for families, and in the 1863 Enclosure on the west side of the ground.

“Tickets for the Thursday and Friday are also selling well, but at this stage we have good availability across the stadium bowl.”
