YORKSHIRE and Hampshire both claimed maximum bonus points in the home side’s first innings during a thrilling second afternoon session of their LV= County Championship Division One clash at the Ageas Bowl.

Hampshire, fighting hard against relegation, scored 77 runs in the last 6.5 overs of their innings as they declared on 400-9 inside 109 overs.

That meant they claimed five batting points, while Yorkshire took five wickets in the last ten overs to secure three, with Matthew Fisher picking up two richly-deserved wickets to finish with 2-61 from 23.5 overs.

Liam Dawson hit a fine 140 for the hosts, who were also boosted by Gareth Berg’s unbeaten 27 off nine balls, including six fours.

Yorkshire then slipped to 0-1 after two balls of their reply as Adam Lyth edged Fidel Edwards to third slip.

They have reached 21-1 after ten overs at tea. Gary Ballance, 14 not out, was dropped at gully on nine. Alex Lees is seven not out.
