FIRST things first, we're disappointed we lost our match against Middlesex at Lord's on Saturday after dominating every game of cricket we have played this year – but the bigger picture is winning the County Championship at Lord's.

I don't think there's a more special place in cricket and we're fortunate enough to have won it there.

Second time around, it's no coincidence with the team that we've got. The work ethic the lads have is unreal. This is why we play and these are the things you get rewarded for.

It was a surreal week at Lord's, to be honest. Last year, we won the game against Nottinghamshire to win the title. This year, we were only into the first day when the news came through that we'd got the trophy back.

I was out in the middle batting with Galey and I didn't know what was going on, to be honest.

But the main thing is that we won it and we have moved on to the final two games, starting with Hampshire yesterday, and hopefully finish the season strongly.

I think we had a little bit of an eye off the Middlesex game after day one, if we're honest. We've been brilliant all year but it just shows that if you're slightly off, you lose the game.

I don't think anybody will be whining too much, though. There may be a good old traditional Yorkshireman who won't be happy somewhere – but we're thrilled with what we've achieved.

If we win one out of the two remaining games, we'll reach the record points haul in two-division cricket and that's a goal that will drive us on. We're a proud set of lads and Middlesex was just a blip.

We want to finish the season strongly and lift the trophy again at Headingley in front of the home crowd in a couple of weeks' time.

There are dangerous sides in this division and that defeat might spur us on a bit more for next year.

We're not going to look to stop here. We want to win trophies for a number of years to come.

We can definitely go on from this. We're going to train harder this winter than we ever have and there's no reason why we can't come back and win it for a third time.
