YORKSHIRE are chipping away at the wickets in Middlesex’s second innings, and have taken five during the second afternoon at Lord’s as they chase a two-day victory.

The LV= County Championship winners, who secured a first-innings lead of 193 this morning, struck three times in 12 balls after lunch to reduce the score from 87-0 to 87-3 following a strong opening stand between Sam Robson and Paul Stirling.

Tim Bresnan bowled Robson for 53 in the 24th over before James Middlebrook’s off-spin accounted for the wickets of Stirling, who was bowled for 34, and Dawid Malan lbw.

Steve Eskinazi was next to go when he had his off-stump uprooted, leaving the score at 128-4 in the 42nd, before Jack Brooks had Neil Dexter caught and bowled with the first ball of the session’s final over.

Middlesex have reached tea at 143-5 from 47 overs, trailing by 50, with Nick Compton 20 and captain James Franklin yet to get off the mark.
