YORKSHIRE all-rounder Tim Bresnan is targeting regular international cricket after being recalled by England for next Friday’s one-off one-day international against Ireland at Malahide.

Bresnan and York’s Jonny Bairstow are two of 11 players named by England for the match, with more set to be added to the squad once the Test team for the third Test against West Indies in Barbados has been named on Friday.

That means the likes of Adam Lyth, Liam Plunkett and Adil Rashid are all likely to be in contention.

The good news for Yorkshire is that all players selected will be available for the next round of LV= County Championship fixtures starting on May 10, two days after the Ireland clash. Yorkshire face Hampshire at Headingley.

Bresnan, selected by the Lions during the winter, has not been involved in a full international since March 2013, but he has started an Ashes summer impressively for his county with bat and ball.

“I am happy to be in the England squad. It is a reward for the work I’ve put in this season so far,” he said.

“I haven’t thought about England recently. I’m trying to take it one game at a time with Yorkshire.

“From an England point of view, we’ll see how it goes in Ireland. Hopefully, if I take some wickets and score some runs, I can be kept in mind for the national side during the summer.

“The main thing is that I don’t miss any cricket for Yorkshire and I’ll be able to play in the next Championship match.

“I really want to perform well for the Tykes and put us in a good position for the rest of the summer.”
