EASINGWOLD staved off the threat of relegation from division four of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League – thanks to Ampleforth College sixth-form duo Charles Ramsey and Hugo Barnard.

Ramsey (100no) hit his maiden century and then fellow 18-year-old Barnard claimed 4-21 in an advantage draw with Pickering.

Knocks from Tom Langstaff (50) and Alan Robinson (39) ensured Easingwold totalled 232-3.

Barnard then caused problems for the visiting batsmen, who emerged with a draw at 155-7 thanks to an unbeaten 53 by Charlie Marwood allied to Kev Wilson’s 35.

Fenner batted first at champions Woodhouse Grange and reached 165-9 against Paul Grewer (3-34) and Matt Shepherd (3-35).

Grange sealed their 11th victory of the campaign thanks to an eighth century opening partnership as Mike Hattee (91no) and Jon Bean (37) en route to an eight-wicket win.

After winning at Acomb, where Guy Wilkinson inspired their five-wicket win, Heworth still have a theoretical chance of avoiding relegation.

Andy Ingle made 30 and Matt Williams 25 but Wilkinson (4-24) and Tom Neal (3-11) had the home side all out for 118. Wilkinson then followed up with an unbeaten 55.

Bubwith’s second successive relegation season was confirmed when they suffered a six-wicket home defeat by Hull Zingari.

Paul Van Dijk hit 47 and Neil Readman 34 in Bubwith’s 180-8, but it was not enough.

Huby survived at 80-9 in pursuit of Driffield’s 156 all out and they now need only two points from their final game to avoid the drop. Huby’s Shaun Dixon took 6-51.

Stillingon had the better of a draw with Sessay, whose promotion as runners-up now depends on a good result from their final game against Acomb.

Stillington’s Wayne Linton hit 86 in his side’s 170-6 and Sessay could only reply with 159-7, with Luke Ramsay making 48.

Champions Castleford received the division five trophy before their game against Huntington – and then proceeded to lose by 62 runs.

Tom Shaw’s 50 helped Huntington to 100 all out and the champions were then skittled for 38 by John Overton (5-16) and Darren Hosford (4-19).

Huntington moved up to second as a result of a home defeat for Stamford Bridge against Civil Service.

Service were rolled over for 139 as former Wilberfoss player Des Healey took 5-17, but Bridge were all out for 129 as Chris Lowen took 4-39.

Rowntrees suffered their 13th defeat of the season at Sheriff Hutton Bridge.
