THE weekend's standout individual performance in York & District Senior League Galtres division two came at Stillington where Osbaldwick asked the home team to bat.

Alex Rippon tore through the top order, taking 7-23 on the way to bowling Stillington out for 88. Only John Milburn with 28 offered any resistance.

Matt Dunne (56) and Lewis Sansome (27 not out) saw Osbaldwick to a nine-wicket win in the 19th over.

Another fine individual performance, although this time in a losing cause, came at Tadcaster Magnets where New Earswick were the visitors.

Kev Barker enjoyed a fine all round day with 4-62 and 35 not out, but he could not stop his side sliding to a 100-run defeat.

Batting first, Tadcaster made 217-8 with runs from Sam Lendhill (64 not out), Rory Coe (43) and Ed Day (35).

It was then left to Simon McNamara to take 6-32 on the way to New Earswick being bowled out for 117.

Those results allowed Duncombe Park to jump out of the relegation places as they entertained Thorp Arch & Boston Spa.

Josh Butler made 47 and Alex Medd 25 as the home team batted first and made 139 all out with Toby Wells and Simon Marriot both taking 4-25.

Jonathan Leckenby’s 3-26 made TABS work hard for the runs but the visitors went past the total for the loss of three wickets with runs from Daniel Kilby (57) and Jonathan White (37) – to leave Duncombe Park three points off safety.

The three remaining games in the division were all winning draws for teams batting first.

League leaders Sheriff Hutton Bridge 2nds made 197-8 when third-placed Sessay 2nds visited, with runs from Nick Scaling (42) and Alex Ibbotson (80 not out). Lee Margerison took 3-46 with the ball.

In response, Sessay found Mike Smith hard to get away as he took 3-27 and, despite 43 from Paul Flintoff and 80 not out from Matthew Wass, the visitors shut up shop at 162-6 to take the draw.

It was a similar story in the match between second-placed Pannal and Hovingham.

The prolific Andy Ellis made 59, John Strover 75 and Carl Wilson hit 56 not out as Pannal reached 240-6 at tea.

Hovingham made 204-6 in response with Edward Robinson making 73 to take a well-earned draw.

Thirsk then managed to leapfrog over Hovingham after their winning draw at Bilton in Ainsty.

Batting first, Thirsk made 208-6 with runs from Ben Collinson 34 and James Wilkinson being agonisingly run out for 97.

Ian Hutchison was the pick of Bilton’s bowlers with 3-41. Adam Fairhurst cracked 57 for the home team.

Three wickets a piece for Stuart Christon (3-23), James Wilkinson (3-38) and Harry Consett (3-16) nearly took the full result but Bilton’s last man held out for the last ball to take the draw at 155-9.
