HUNTERS York & District Senior League Division One leaders Hull Zingari bounced back from the disappointment of the previous week's defeat to promotion rivals Folkton & Flixton with a five-wicket win at Ripon.

The visitors bowled out their hosts, who have dropped into the bottom three for the first time this season, for just 99.

Second-placed Sewerby recorded their third consecutive victory, the latest success coming by three wickets against east-coast rivals Hornsea.

The home side were dismissed for 194, with the visitors reaching their target with seven overs to spare.

Folkton & Flixton stepped up the pressure on the top two with their fifth win in a row.

Connor Stephenson (72) and Jamie Nesfield (66) put the Heworth bowling to the sword with some devastating hitting, and both Will Hutchinson (40) and Rich Malthouse (35) also contributed to a total of 278.

That came despite Martin Boothroyd, who finished with very creditable figures of 5-28, Steve Lawrence's (3-83) wickets proving somewhat more costly.

Reece Milner top-scored for the visitors with 52 as they were bowled out for 159, Connor Stephenson capping a memorable personal performance with 5-42.

Knaresborough remain fourth after they were left frustrated by a draw at home to Beverley Town.

The home side made 159-8 and had reduced the visitors to 129-9 by the close, tantalisingly just one wicket away from victory and maximum points.

An unbeaten century from Jordan Marshall (127no) helped Harrogate secure a first win in six attempts, he and George Owram (32) helping to overhaul visiting Selby's 200-3 for the loss of only two wickets.

In a game dominated by batsmen, there were also half-centuries for Matt Hoyle (72) and Alex Bowden (69), although both ultimately came in a losing cause.

Hull managed to avoid defeat at Dringhouses but picked up only six points as they fight to avoid an immediate return to Division Two.

Andrew Simpson picked up where he left off the previous week against Selby.

On that occasion he made 81 not out, and once again he remained unbeaten, this time on 94. Richard Cole also finished not out, making 45 in a total of 216-6, half of the wickets falling to Mick Kenyon (3-34).

Matt Watkin made 53 as the visitors replied with 132-8 as they look set for a nervous end to the season.
