ONLY one of the games in the Hunters York and District Senior Cricket League division one Bank Holiday programme survived to produce a positive result.

That game went the way of fifth-placed Ripon (205-8) who just missed out on maximum points as hosts Dringhouses (152-9) held on with nine wickets down.

Four of the other five fixtures were all eventually abandoned.

No play whatsoever was possible in the match between Harrogate 2nds and Folkton & Flixton at St George’s Road.

At Hornsea, the home side were bowled out for 159 but visitors Knaresborough were denied a likely victory when the weather intervened with them on 116-2.

The second of the three matches taking place on the East Coast also looked likely to end only one way with Beverley Town 2nds reduced by Hull 2nds’ pair Gavin (3-22) and Laurence Wilkinson (3-42) to 72-6 in reply to the home side’s score of 237-6 which had included half-centuries for both Martin Watkin (80) and Tom Jennings (55).

The remaining two games had reached an almost identical stage when play was called off due to the weather.

Bottom of the table Selby Londesborough had Alex Bowden (109) to thank for 12 points as his century contributed more than half their total of 208 as Matthew Bunn took 6-28 for second placed Hull Zingari who had reached 60-3.

Leaders Sewerby, meanwhile, made 203 with Mike Artley (54) and Lyndon (43) taking the batting honours.

William Huffer replied with 4-34 for third placed Heworth who, like Hull Zingari, had lost three early wickets.
