SHERIFF Hutton Bridge II are one of three sides with maximum points from the opening two games in Galtres division two.

At home to Hovingham, Bridge were set a target of 170-8 thanks mainly to Josh Prest (55no).

Inspired by Jack Hugill (64no) and Rob Stevens (72no), Bridge surpassed the score in 29 overs for the loss of only one wicket to record a full 60 points from the first two games.

Sessay II and Thorp Arch & Boston Spa (TABS) are the other sides with maximum points.

At Sessay, visitors Thirsk were asked to bat first and reached 137-9 thanks to Harry Collinson and Stuart Christon who both made 42. Ben Scaling was the major thorn in the side with impressive figures of 5-18.

In response, James Skelton (48) and Mark Jackson (68no) made light work of the chase, overhauling the total in 26 overs.

TABS opted to bowl away at Stillington. Steve Crowder made 43, Oliver Everard 36, and Karl Simpson batted through the innings for 72 not out leaving Stillington 184-3 at the break.

In reply, TABS lost an early wicket but Charlie Mitchell (78) combined with Chris Stephenson (48) in a stand of 104 and George Gibson (27) in a stand of 76, which ensured they passed the total with four overs to spare and won by 6 wickets.

New Earswick opted to bat in their game at Osbaldwick but initially struggled for momentum despite a battling 25 from Andy Routledge. Martyn Hewitson (3-44) put the pressure on the home team but Osbaldwick got home by three wickets to record their first win in 2017.

At Bilton in Ainsty, the home team inserted visitors Duncombe Park who made 188-6 thanks, again, to the prolific Brian Leckenby (69) supported by Jake Fox (26). Bilton were unable to pass the total and battled out for a draw with Duncombe taking 22 points.

There was no information available from the game at Pannal against Tadcaster Magnets.

In Galtres division three, newcomers Knaresborough II built on their opening win with another convincing victory away at Sheriff Hutton.

The home team struggled to 77 all out in the 27th over with Tom Baines (5-12) the main destroyer. The total was reached by Knaresborough for the loss of 3 wickets with Martin Revill top scoring on 27.

Wetherby made it back-to-back wins with a nailbiting last over success at Huby.

The home team opted to bat and made 212-6 with Max Lord scoring an impressive 117 not out, supported by Dan Grainger (27). Wetherby reached the target for the loss of 8 wickets and were indebted to knocks from Andrew Twitchen (41), Adam Wilkinson (58), and Neil Thomas (78 not out).

New Earswick II recorded their first win of the season at home to Osbaldwick II.

The home team made 191-8 with contributions from skipper David Scott (58), Tim Richardson (28), Craig Stimpson (42) and Daniel Lockwood (32).

In response, Ed Baldwin made 50 for Osbaldwick supported by Louis Morton (30) and Mick Thompson (27).

The visitors were undone by the bowling of Craig Stimpson (3-24) and Matt Taylor (4-28) and fell 37 runs short when bowled out in the 41st over.

At Tadcaster Magnets, the home team invited visitors Easingwold II to bat. Zak Wilson (25), Dan Copeland (39) and Martin Robinson (27) led the charge as Easingwold scored 168 all out. Paul Clark (3-13) was the pick of the home bowlers.

Wilson took 3-36 and with Jamie Metcalfe taking 3-16 the visitors bowled out Magnets for 122 to seal a 46 run victory.

In the other games in the division, York IV conceded away to Heworth III and no information was available in the game between Woodhouse Grange III and Rowntrees & Huntington.

The opening round of fixtures in Galtres division four saw wins for Huby II and TABS II.

TABS scored an impressive 244-5 at home to Sheriff Hutton II thanks to Dan Kilby (94) and Johnny White (67).

Sheriff Hutton made a good attempt with Ali Hammond (81) but Sam Mottershead’s 4-60 ensured the visitors were all out for 170 after 31 overs.

Duncombe Park were bowled out for 49 in the 25th over by Huby II thanks to impressive figures of 6-7 from Richard Wentworth. Huby made it over the line for the loss of 6 wickets.

At Dringhouses, Heslington II rattled up an impressive 207-7 with Jamie Thornton (52) and Andrew Luff (55 no).

Thornton then took 3-7 with the ball and, along with James Reynolds (3-24), ensured victory as Dringhouses II were bowled out for 134. Hovingham II were unable to field a side at home to Stillington II.
