THERE was a dramatic conclusion to the Hunters York & District Senior League Premier clash at Norwood Park were visitors Sessay secured victory with their final pair at the wicket and just three balls to spare against Beverley Town.

Olly Grantham (63no) and Mike Cooke (39) had helped Beverley reach 193-7 with Joe Watson taking 4-47 for the visitors.

Matthew Till (45) and Nick Harrison (40) contributed towards the thrilling climax but despite the efforts of Brad Graham (3-45) the home side could not force a victory.

It was a similar story in the match between Studley Royal and Pickering where the former finished on 211-6 in reply to Pickering’s 207-7. The contest reached its finale with one ball of the penultimate over remaining.

Goole Town came out on top of a keenly contested draw as they played host to York.

The home side reached 197-7, Anthony Gibbins top scoring with 51 and Neil Foster 49. Young spinner Tom Spearman took 4-45 for York who replied with 180-7. Ben Lamb (3-44) helped to ensure they finished just short of their target.

Driffield Town (215-6) drew with Castleford (273-3).

Whitkirk took the lion’s share of the points from their visit to Malton & Old Malton.

Simon Webb scored 70 but a fine performance from Toby Sercombe (5-40) held the visitors to a total of 213-9 which they defended thanks largely to Michael O’Brien (5-45) who took five of the eight wickets to fall as Malton closed on 179.

Dunnington showed the ruthless streak needed to secure an immediate return to the Premier League as they bowled out visitors Bolton Percy for just 91 with three wickets each for George Drury (3-26), Dave Brent (3-10) and Jay Snowden (3-14).

It took the home side less than 20 overs to reach the target - losing just a single wicket in the process.
