ROB Ellis took his run tally for the season to over 900 in the Hunters York & District Senior League Galtres division two as he scored an unbeaten 52 to guide Pannal to an eight-wicket win at Woodhouse Grange II.

Chris Wood (56no) top scored, with Tom Quinn hitting 38 as the home side posted 141-8, Rob Smith (3-31) being the leading bowler.

Andy Ellis was also in the runs as his 77 helped take full points and keep Pannal top.

Second-placed Ripon posted 214-5 at Easingwold II, thanks in the main to Rob Taylor (87), Elliot Oates (30) and Ben Crewe, who was 45 not out and then took 4-25 as Easingwold were dismissed for 90, with Alan Robinson hitting 30.

Brian Leckenby (66no) was again among the runs as he assisted Duncombe Park (113-8) to a home win over Sheriff Hutton Bridge II (111).

Nick Scaling (26) had top-scored for Bridge, with Peter Kent (4-37) and Jonathan Leckenby (3-18) among the wickets for the home side. Mike Smith took 4-28 as Duncombe Park crossed the line.

Sessay II (136) crashed to a 75-run defeat at home to Hovingham after they failed to chase down 211-9.

Charlie Prest (79), Rich Bowling (61), and George Wainwright (34) were the principal architects for Hovingham, while James Easton bagged 5-54.

John Flintoff (46) fell just short of the half-century as Steve Mosey’s 3-19 helped to give the visitors full points.

Mark Cook (36) and Stuart Christon (31) were again in the runs as they supported James Wilkinson (44) in Thirsk’s 186 at home to Wetherby.

Neil Thomas scored 30 in the second innings, but Ross McAndrew (3-22) and Wilkinson (3-21), adding to his earlier runs, helped bowl out the visitors for 93 as Thirsk look to make a late charge on the leading pair.

Jon Hill (51) top-scored for Tadcaster Magnet (251-9) before he became one of Nitikant Kasana’s (4-67) victims in the derby at Thorp Arch & Boston Spa.

The home side needed nearly all of their allocated overs to gain an outright win, but runs from Guy Whatmore (40), George Gibson (42) and skipper Andrew Jones (65) helped them keep a little distance from the bottom clubs.

Galtres division three leaders New Earswick continued their good form after a seven-wicket win at Civil Service II, chasing down the 129-9 set by their hosts.

On-loan Steve Crowder hit 71 for the home side, while Arron Read (3-37), Matt Hewitson (3-37) and Andy Routledge (3-23) grabbed the wickets for New Earswick.

John Patrick top-cored with 42, and Luke Whitaker was unbeaten on 38 as the visitors took maximum points.

Steve Beales grabbed 6-26 as visitors Heworth III were bowled out for 100 at Rowntrees & Huntington (101-1),with loan player Lewis Beaton top-coring with 33.

The home side were guided to a nine-wicket win by an unbroken second-wicket partnership of 88 between John Dowd (44no) and David Ward (38no).

Will Walker’s unbeaten 40 was the foundation for Tadcaster Magnet II’s two-wicket win at home to Woodhouse Grange III after his side chased down 256-5.

Des Wyrill (51) top-scored for Woodhouse, supported by Marcus Smith (27), who took 4-37 when Tadcaster batted. Walker was supported by Phil Wilson (35) and Paul Clark (34) as they went over the line at 157-8.

Galtres division four leaders Osbaldwick II (136-7) dropped points when they were at the wrong end of a draw at home to Copmanthorpe II (182-9).

Joel Arnold (67) and Roy Atkinson (26) enabled the visitors to post a challenging target, but, thanks chiefly to Pete Machin (43no) and Jake Cartledge (32), the leaders held on to take some points.

Henry Smith, supported by Alistair Thorpe (74), hit an unbeaten 154 as he helped second-placed Hovingham II move to within five points of the leaders after posting 266-1 declared at home to Stillington II, who, thanks to Tim Jarvis (101ni) also hitting a century, and David Jarvis (47no), closed on 210-5.
