AS THE sides below them continue to jockey for position in the race for promotion, Hunters York & District Senior League division one leaders Whitkirk remain firmly on course for both the title and promotion after recording a tenth win to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.

Malton & Old Malton returned to second place as Harrogate’s game against Patrington was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Simon Parker (63no) and Mark Murphy (53) both posted half-centuries for the competition’s top side as they visited Hornsea.

Adam Newington took 4-46 for the home side but further runs from Matthew Webb (46) and Robert Flynn (42) helped the visitors reach 247-6.

The hosts also had two players pass fifty in Richard Hornby (53) and Jonathan Fisher (53) but three wickets each from Michael O'Brien (3-38) and John Potter (3-36) helped bowl them out for 180.

Hosts Malton & Old Malton scored a decisive victory over Sewerby to move into the promotion places, the winning margin being a comfortable 109 runs.

Daniel Harper (53) and Gary Hall (40) helped the home side score 194-9, Lewis Beasley finishing with 4-49, but the bowling honours belonged to Jack Charters (4-23) and Oliver Gilbank (3-11) as they helped to dismiss the visitors for just 85.

Folkton & Flixton lost ground on their promotion rivals, going down to an eight-wicket defeat at Bridlington.

Tom McMeeken (4-22) and Simon Leeson (4-24) were largely responsible for the visitors’ 101 all out, which included 38 from Jake McAleese.

Leeson then finished 44 not out as, with Richard Lount (47no), victory was achieved with more than 20 overs to spare.

Peter Parnaby took 5-10 as Beverley Town bowled out Osbaldwick for 102, despite 34 from James Hattee, Kieran Thompson also contributing to the hosts’ misery with 3-27.

Ian Pratt (43) top-scored for the visitors as they reached the target for the loss of just two wickets.

Selby came out on top when they hosted Pocklington, despite Connaire Brattan’s 4-50.

Michael Smales made 45 in the visitors' 166-8 but, despite an unbeaten 40 from Andy Inns, they finished well short on 113-4.
