YORK captain Daniel Woods has warned that his side will not under-estimate tomorrow's opponents Dunnington in the Hunters' Yorkshire Premier League North.

Second placed York are unbeaten in their last five games and sit just five points behind leaders Harrogate.

Neighbours Dunnington, meanwhile, are bottom of the table with only 19 points from 12 games so far this season.

Significantly, they have picked up 14 of those points in just the last three games - which suggests their fortunes are on the up.

Woods said: "You cannot take any team lightly in this division. Although Dunnington are bottom, we know they are strong team and they will be up for it. They have good players and we definitely need to be 'on it' if we want to be successful."

Opening batsmen Duncan Snell, who returned to York this season after two years in the Bradford League with Woodlands, is currently in the middle of a rich vein of form.

Snell plundered his fourth consecutive half century in last week's winning draw against Woodhouse Grange - and has averaged 69.25 runs per game in that period.

"Duncan is battling really well just now," said Woods. "And Ryan McKendry is bowling well too - but I don't want to pick out individuals.

"It is a team effort and, if we are going to be successful, we all have to contribute."

McKendry has taken 15 wickets for 197 runs in the last five games.

Woods admitted that he was 'proud' of the way York had re-ignited their season in recent weeks.

"We are very pleased with how we have been playing," he said. "We had a bit of a blip a few weeks ago when we played Saturday, Sunday, Monday and lost all three games!

"That was very disappointing - but it gave us a kick up the backside and I am very proud of the way we have reacted. It was a real wake up call."

With both Nick Kay and Alex Collins unavailable this weekend, batsmen Richard Brown and Richard Love will come into the middle order.

Leaders Harrogate travel to Woodhouse Grange who have picked up eight points from three consecutive losing draws.

Third placed Sheriff Hutton Bridge will be looking to build on last week's winning draw at Dunnington, when they visit Yorkshire Academy who are breathing down their necks in fourth place.

Fifth placed Stamford Bridge meet sixth placed Hull, who have picked up 16 points from two consecutive winning draws, and Acomb are away against Castleford.

The game of the weekend in the Premier Division, meanwhile, is undoubtedly leaders Easingwold at home to second placed Clifton Alliance.

York II host Bolton Percy and bottom of the table Heworth visit Pickering.
