WHITKIRK extended their lead in the Hunters York & District Senior League Division One with a seventh straight win, while Malton & Old Malton now head the chasing pack after their third victory in four weeks.

The leaders scored a resounding triumph at Folkton & Flixton who began the day as their nearest rivals, albeit 61 points adrift.

David Tubby top-scored for the visitors with 73 and Michael O'Brien added 58 in a total of 226-9, three wickets going to Harry Walmsley (3-56).

Ben Danby then took 4-45 as the home side were bowled out for 114, of which Jake McAleese made 31.

Matthew Hattee (109) finished on the losing side, despite making a century for Osbaldwick, Stuart Watmore taking 4-60 as the visitors reached 224-7 against Malton & Old Malton.

Neil Johnson followed last week’s half-century with 68 before Gary Hall secured the points with an unbeaten 50 as the hosts won by five wickets.

An opening stand of 190 between Ian Buss (96) and Stewart Guy (72) set Patrington on their way to a total of 294-7, but a century from Andrew Burton (128) and an unbeaten 69 from Liam Feasey ensured visitors Beverley Town a share of the points as they closed on 266-4.

A second century of the season from Harrogate’s George Ellaby (124) was added to by Ashley Griffin (58) as, despite four wickets from Richard Medforth (4-64), the home side scored 294-8.

Paul Clappison responded with 85 for Hornsea, who came away with a draw as they reached 231-7.

Sewerby continued to climb the table after they got the better of hosts Pocklington in another drawn game.

The visitors had Steve Janney (69) and Adrian Long (49) to thank as they helped build a total of 270-7, and Long then capped a fine individual performance with figures of 5-36 but, despite his efforts, the visitors held firm, finishing on 217-9. Andrew Anderson (66) and Richard Readman (42) provided the majority of the resistance.

Two sides at the wrong end of the table met at Dukes Park and it was Bridlington who came out on top, beating Selby by four wickets thanks to an unbeaten 64 from Sam Edmundson.

That came in response to the visitors’ 178-9 in which Harry Burnhill took 3-20 and Alex Bowden top-scored with 35.
