THE top two in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division one table swapped places after Whitkirk beat Harrogate at St George’s Road, and Patrington climbed into third above Hornsea with a dominant display against Pocklington.

Michael O'Brien produced what may turn out be the performance of the season, finishing with figures of 8-47 as, new leaders, Whitkirk bowled out hosts Harrogate for 170.

Simon Webb’s (106) century helped the visitors reach 231-6 and, despite George Ellaby (66) and Will Parker’s (40) efforts, the home side lost for the first time this season as the visitors made it four consecutive victories.

Patrington made it three wins in a row as they beat Pocklington by eight wickets.

George Baty (40no) was one of several batsmen to get a start but none were able to make the telling contribution for the home side, which resulted in a total of 186 all out, Glenn Ratcliffe taking 4-36.

Marc Pollard’s (107no) century ensured the result was never in doubt and Ashley McKinley (39no) helped inflict a fourth straight defeat on the hosts.

James Smith (7-41) set up Osbaldwick’s victory at home to Hornsea with an outstanding bowling performance. taking seven wickets.

Only Jonathan Fisher (55) made any impression in a total of 146 which the hosts soon passed thanks to Joseph Broomfield (58no), Matt Dunne (31) and Matthew Hattee (30no).

A century stand between Lee Wild (74) and Gareth Roberts (57) helped Selby reach 198-7 against Malton & Old Malton with Michael Linsley (3-26) and Stuart Watmore (3-46) each picking up three wickets.

But the total was not enough as the hosts replied with 199-5, Neil Johnson (75) top scoring while Gary Hall (46) and Thomas Bumby (43) also contributed to the successful run chase.

An unbroken fourth-wicket partnership of 120 between Richard Malthouse (71no) and Matthew Nesfield (49no) brought Folkton & Flixton victory over bottom side Sewerby.

That was after the home side had made 157 thanks to Steve Janney (35) and Matthew Rennoldson (35no) as Harry Walmsley picked up 4-18.

Jon Vodden (99no) just missed out on a century but had the satisfaction of guiding Beverley Town to a comprehensive victory at Bridlington.

James Emery (3-52) and Sam Welburn (3-32), having helped bowl out the home side for 180, before Vodden with help from Harry Gamble (61) reached their target for the loss of just two wickets.
