THREE of the five promoted sides picked up victories in Division One of the Hunters York & District Senior League.

Harrogate made the long trip to Bridlington worthwhile, gaining maximum points by winning a low-scoring match by two wickets.

William Parker (4-27) and James Clark (3-22) helped to bowl out the hosts for 119, but the visitors did not have things all their own way as Sam Edmundson replied with 5-23.

George Ellaby was the only batsmen to master the difficult conditions, his score of 38 being the stand-out performance in the game.

Hornsea made it back-to-back victories, dismissing Sewerby for just 68, the damage being done by Adam Newington (4-11) and Richard Medforth (3-9).

Having found themselves at 19-5, the home side's total reflected something of a recovery but it took the visitors only 12 overs to reach their target, Jonathan Fisher leading the way with 30.

Patrington completed a hat-trick of victories for the division’s newcomers in another low-scoring encounter.

This time it was Osbaldwick who were bowled out cheaply, Glenn Ratcliffe (3-8) and Billy Ineson (3-9) producing outstanding spells to dismiss the visitors for 63.

The home side raced home off just eight overs, Ian Buss finishing unbeaten on 34.

Whitkirk made it two wins in a row as they triumphed at Pocklington by 47 runs.

Michael O'Brien (38) top-scored, Harry Collins finishing with 3-29 as the visitors were bowled out for 159.

O'Brien then followed up his batting effort with 4-22 and, with the help of Robert Flynn (3-17) and James Malthouse (3-21), combined to dismiss the home side for 112, the majority of that total coming from Ted Donkin (35) and Dan Boneham (33).

Selby and Beverley Town fought out a draw in the day’s closest finish, visitors Town missing out on victory by four runs.

The home side posted 159, thanks to contributions from Lee Wild (44) and Gary Moore (44), Sam Welburn (3-22) and Alex Nightingale (3-32) sharing six of the eight wickets to fall.

Michael Cooke (27) was one of three players to reach 20 but none were able to go on to play a match-winning innings as Gareth Roberts (3-24) helped the home side hold out.

The match between Folkton & Flixton and Malton & Old Malton was abandoned at the start of the second innings with the home side on 22-0, which came in response to the visitors' 172-9.

Included in that total was 58 from Stephen Linsley, the only batsman to make a half-century in the competition on a day when the ball defiantly held sway.
