RUNAWAY leaders Sessay made it eight wins from ten games and remained unbeaten at the top of Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division one with a blistering victory over Sewerby.

Simon Mason was in superb form for Sessay, scoring an unbeaten 61 off just 21 deliveries as the hosts scored 126-1 from just 10.4 overs. That came in reply to Sewerby’s 125 all out. Stuart Pierse (4-29) and Stephen Langstaff (4-31) did the damage with the ball, despite 51 from Adrian Long.

There was an even quicker conclusion to the match between Bolton Percy and Beverley Town II, the entire contest lasting little more than 42 overs.

Tom Atkinson enjoyed an excellent afternoon, taking 5-21 as Beverley were bowled out for just 59. He then scored 46 to help Percy secure a nine wicket win which lifted the home side up two places to second but saw the visitors drop down six spots.

Folkton & Flixton’s 309-8 included the highest individual score of the day from Nick Zakrzewski. He scored 141. Chris Mann added 43 as, despite Haydon Jackson’s 4-48, Pickering were unable to contain the scoring.

David Greenlay (64) and Ryan Boyes (44) led the reply but it was Mann (4-40) who ensured they finished well short of their target. However, 237-8 was enough to earn a share of the points.

The match between Driffield Town II and Goole Town II ended in a draw as the latter held on to salvage a share of the points with their last wicket pair at the crease.

Driffield side had Mark Clarkson (44no) to thank as they scored 181-9, James Kerr taking 4-37. In reply, Ashton Nottingham scored 35 but it was Johnny Anderson (4-10) who got his team to within one wicket of victory as Goole Town II closed on 163-9.

Whitkirk took the majority of the points from a high scoring draw against Bridlington and climbed three places up the table as a result.

Simon Webb (79) and Mark Murphy (60) shared an opening stand of 150 before Andrew Mason’s 51 not out helped boost Whitkirk's total to 273-6.

That proved to be just out of reach for Brid as they got to within 18 runs before the overs ran out.

Nick Tennant’s unbeaten 92 followed Sam Edmundson’s 69 and 48 from Richard Lount and, while unable to score a victory, they did enough to maintain third place in the table.

Malton & Old Malton got the better of a draw at Osbaldwick.

Shaun Harland made 47 for Malt, who could have scored more than their 233-8 had any of the four batsmen that reached 30 gone on. James Smith (4-53) ensured that was not the case.

Matthew Hattee (47) and Rich Carew (40) helped the home side to 182-8 in reply but Stuart Watmore (4-18) made sure the visitors’ total was never seriously threatened.
