SELBY II claimed their second win of the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League season as they edged past Drax by two runs in division four west.

Batting first after losing the toss, Selby posted 169-9 from their 45 overs, with Malcolm Bowden top-scoring on 40.

In reply, Graham Phillips took 3-30 to strangle the Drax reply with Selby holding their nerve to secure a narrow victory despite a superb undefeated 50 by Kevin Thomas.

Stamford Bridge climbed to the top of the table with their first win of the season as they beat Cawood by six wickets.

Mark Fairweather (5-18) and Desmond Healey (3-12) starred with the ball as Cawood posted a below-par 121-9.

Cameron King (47no) and Robert Gilyeat (49no) helped Stamford Bridge to victory.

An impressive 13 fours in a knock of 80 from Rob Hill could not secure a win for Tadcaster Magnet against Bolton Percy.

Tadcaster posted 212-3 from their 45 overs, with Kevin Wakefield’s 45 supporting Hill.

Sam Ward took 3-33 but Bolton Percy held on for a draw as Martin Pears hit an unbeaten 44.

In division four central, there were low-scoring victories for Sheriff Hutton and Osbaldwick over Dringhouses and Cawood respectively.

Sheriff Hutton’s Wayne Fawcett claimed 5-20 and hit 23 runs in a seven-wicket victory over Dringhouses.

Fawcett helped to bowl Dringhouses out for 74 and helped Jag Gopalappa (26no) to guide his side home.

Andrew Saxton starred with the ball as Osbaldwick claimed a six-wicket win over Cawood.

Saxton’s 4-31 helped bowl Cawood out for 121 and the visitors won inside 28 overs thanks to Andy Patterson’s 47.

Paul Horner starred with bat and ball as Rowntrees & Huntington eased to a ten-wicket win over Stillington.

Horner first grabbed 3-27 as he helped to dismiss Stillington for 94 and he then struck an unbeaten 54.
