DIVISION three north leaders Sheriff Hutton secured a 60-run win over struggling Woodhouse Grange in Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League.

Sheriff recovered from the early losses of Richard Ainley and Joe Schofield to post 191 all out, thanks to a half-century from Geoffrey Schofield.

Woodhouse’s James Hattee returned figures of 4-33.

The hosts collapsed to 44-4 and opening bowlers David Hull and Chris Gartland went on to claim three wickets apiece as they were dismissed for 131.

An unbeaten 61 from wicketkeeper Tom Sowerby secured Sessay a one-wicket win over Malton & Old Malton.

On a deck that was offering seam movement, 18 wickets fell as batting proved tricky.

Malton had first crack and could only muster 146-9 off their 45 overs, led by Josh Berry (35) and Bradley Freer (30).

It proved tough for Sessay too as Freer and Berry backed up their batting display by collecting eight wickets between them, but Sowerby guided his side to victory.

Pickering were eight-wicket winners over Stillington at York Road.

The hosts were soon in trouble as wickets tumbled, but in-form Mark Aconley (45) and Barry Milburn (35) steadied the ship to help set Pickering 158 for victory.

A fine 67 from Shaun Smith ensured the visitors coasted to victory.

There were draws between Pocklington and Huby, and Thorp Arch & Boston Spa and Copmanthorpe.

Pocklington fell one wicket short of victory and the visitors nine runs short of their target. Pock set 194 for Huby to chase, with Ben Stephenson top scoring on 50.

A fine 74 from Huby’s Hugh Shedden was not enough as they fell short thanks to a fine spell from Chris Saltmer (5-46).

Forties for Guy Whatmore and Mark Knight could not win it for Thorp Arch as a resilient 79 from Chris Groom snatched a draw for Copmanthorpe.

In division three south, Civil Service lost to Cottingham in a low scoring game at the Outgang.

Civil Service were reeling at 33-5 and they were all out for 70, with Cottingham winning with 30 overs remaining.

Scarborough sealed their first win of the campaign with a four-wicket success over Hemingbrough.

Jordan Welford took 4-35 to restrict Hemingbrough to 149 all out, aided by Sam Carver's 3-40.

Jake Finnagan then top-scored with 43 in the chase.

York and Goole Town played out a high-scoring draw at Clifton Park.

More than 500 runs were scored on a flat deck, with York posting 271-9 thanks to 99 from Nick Elliot, who was run out going for his century.

Kevin Mendham (30), Matthew Scurry (28) and Pradeep Basthiankoralage (29) also contributed.

Scott Thorpe (89no), Jake Kennedy (59) and Neil Webster (52) ensured Goole got within striking distance of victory at 268-6.

Yapham and New Earswick played out a draw at White Rose Avenue.

Yapham posted 182, with Joe Moore and Jack Holman both hitting 53, and New Earswick fell short at 165-8 with Andrew Routledge (50) and Chris Smith (53) ensuring a draw.
