POCKLINGTON continued their fine start to the division two south season in the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League as they secured a low-scoring success over Welton & Brough.

Pock won the toss and opted to bowl and skittled Welton for only 109.

The visitors then endured early setbacks, but Richard Readman kept his nerve with 41 not out to guide his side to their third win.

Winless Woodhouse Grange lost by 59 runs to Hull.

Batting first, Hull posted a competitive 236-7 from their 45 overs, with Laurence Wilkinson (69) and Fergus Wilkinson (56) underpinning the total.

Woodhouse Grange were then pegged back by Gavin Wilkinson, who picked up 4-41 to thwart the efforts of Grange’s Scott Shepherd (78).

Rowntrees & Huntington and Tadcaster Magnet were forced to settle for draws against Heworth and Hull Zingari respectively.

A fine 108 not out from Jack Hugill was not enough to secure victory for Rowntrees, who fell two wickets short despite Daniel Waterworth's 3-57.

Heworth held out to secure a losing draw on 182-8, 29 runs short of Rowntrees' 211-5.

Alastair Markham saved the day for Hull Zingari, striking an unbeaten 116 in his side's 179-8 after being set 233 by Tadcaster.

Andrew Simpson had a debut to remember, hitting an unbeaten 70 to guide Dringhouses to a nine-wicket win over Driffield Town.

They had earlier restricted Town to 136-8 from 45 overs, with Sam Bibby collecting 3-37.

Simpson, who joined from Heworth the night before the game, shone alongside new team-mate Sam Lingard (34no).
