JOE SCHOFIELD starred with the bat as Sheriff Hutton beat Hovingham by 215 runs in Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division three north.

Schofield smashed a fantastic 174 in his side’s 299-6 declared before Hovingham were skittled out for 84.

Pocklington were denied a victory at Castleford II in a thrilling finish.

Needing only two runs to win with two wickets in hand, Pocklington looked on course for victory, but Nathan Smith took two wickets in two balls as Castleford defended their total of 163.

Huby secured a six-wicket win over Malton & Old Malton II, with Hugh Shedden seeing his side home after Malton had set them 148 to win.

Stillington edged past Sessay II by two wickets with Mark Aconley top scoring as his side chased down 154 to claim victory. And finally Thorp Arch and Boston Spa had Guy Whatmore’s 75 to thank as they chased down Pickering’s 171-9 with four men still in the shed.

Yapham’s Martin Pearson took a five-wicket haul and Jonathan Flint claimed three wickets as Welton & Brough were skittled for 82.

Yapham then eased to a nine-wicket victory, with Flint scoring 26 not out after opener Joe Moore hit 44.

An unbeaten 44 from Mark Cowell helped Scarborough secure a share of the spoils against Civil Service side who posted a competitive 225-7.

New Earswick all-rounder Andrew Routledge took 4-7 in restricting Hemingbrough to 224 all out, and then hit 30 alongside top-scorer Tom Hewer to frustrate the opposition.

York and Fenner played out a high-scoring draw.

Fenner posted a competitive total of 295-3, but York replied with 233-5 to secure a draw thanks largely to David Brown, who guided his side to a share of the points with an unbeaten 112.

In division four west, Dunnington raced to victory over Woodhouse Grange to leave their hosts rock bottom of the early season standings.

Batting first, Woodhouse Grange were bowled out for 40 as Jay Snowden took 4-8.

Steve Jackson and Harrison Mussell shared an unbeaten stand of 41 to see Dunnington home.

Selby secured a low-scoring eight-wicket win over Bolton Percy as Joe Romaniw’s five-wicket haul restricted Bolton to 61 all out.

An unbeaten 78 from Thorp Arch’s Jim Riley helped his side to a six-wicket victory over Cawood.

Having restricted their hosts to 141-7, Thorp Arch recovered from 24-3 to secure victory with eight overs left.

Osbaldwick started their division four central season with a seven-wicket win over Stillington. Having restricted Stillington to 98-9, Osbaldwick made light work of their target.

Huby secured an 89-run victory over Cawood. Their 202-6 declared included half-centuries from James Pocklington and Richard Tanner-Smith, and Cawood were all out for 113.
