RECORDS tumbled in the Hunters York & District Senior League.

Harrogate’s Andy Hawkswell smashed the individual highest innings record when he hit an unbeaten 265 at Easingwold in division two north. The previous highest innings in the league’s 102-year history was 234 not out by M Johnson for Huntington against Cawood in 2010.

With Hawkswell’s partner Ben Bartlett making 62 not out, Harrogate reached 345 without loss when they declared, denying Hawkswell the chance of a 300-plus total.

The 345-run stand was the best in the league’s history, beating the previous record of 319 made by Mark Shepherd and Dave Greenlay for Pickering against Bolton Percy in 2012.

It is also thought the match aggregate of 621-7 may also be a league record.

Facing an extra ten overs, Easingwold responded well to make 276-7 to draw the game.

There was also a remarkable performance in division three north as Copmanthorpe’s Paul Wynn claimed all ten Woodhouse Grange wickets in 9.4 overs at a cost of 11 runs.

The haul has been bettered twice, with Steve Beales taking 10-5 for Huntington in 2004 and Sheriff Hutton Bridge’s Roy Piercy 10-9 in 1968.
