HEMINGBROUGH duly clinched the division four west title in their first season back in the Hunters arena thanks to a remarkable spell of bowling.
After making 192-6 with M Scarr 69 not out, Woodhouse Grange all-rounder T Smith’s 20 - he had earlier taken 4-33 - was the best score as Grange were tumbled out for 57, routed by A Roule, who collected seven wickets for the loss of just seven runs.
Peter Woodhead and S Smith each made 36 in Cawood’s 152-8 but were emphatically on the losing side as Dunnington romped to a nine-wicket win with Steve Jackson hitting 71no and Steve Young 68no.
Pocklington trounced fourth-placed Rowntrees & Huntington by ten wickets.
Stef Cockerill hit an unbeaten 50 and Neil Davidson made 26 in Rowntrees’ 116-6 as G Baty took 3-24. The runs were then knocked off without loss by John Chaplin, who made 54no and P Powell, an unbeaten 56.
Thorp Arch had the better of a draw with third-placed Tadcaster Magnet in a derby encounter after making 167-8. Magnet replied with 155-6.
There were half-centuries from Andrew Jones, who made 51 for TABS, and 55 by Magnet’s Kev Wakefield. John Wetherhill took 3-24 for the Tadcaster side while Rob Williams collected 3-17.
Hovingham clinched promotion from division four central when they thrashed Cawood by ten wickets with Richard John hitting 57no and R Swann an unbowed 29.
Cawood had been toppled for 93 by Sam Newton with 3-26 and C Priest, who had 3-33.
Stillington’s Tim Jarvis hit a fine 132 against Duncombe Park but was still on the losing side as the Helmsley-based team won by 14 runs.
Park’s 202-6 included 84 by Jeremy Lascelles and 55 by Barry Wheldon as D Jarvis claimed 3-25.
Bowlers Dave Dunn, with 3-20, and B Nicholson (3-35) did their stuff effectively.
