PROMOTION-CHASING Acomb II maintained their division two south drive with an eight-wicket home win over struggling Carlton Towers.

Towers were only able to make a first innings total of 116 and 36 of those were provided by Matt Torn as first-half plaudits went to Paul Downey (4-29) and Harry Booth (3-16).

Booth then followed with 33 in support of James Fletcher, who made an unbeaten 59.

Patrington’s promotion hopes suffered a setback when they lost by eight wickets at Driffield Town.

Patrington’s 156 featured a knock of 68 by Matt Dixon, but the twin attack of Sam Pallant, with 3-31, and Will Brigham, who took 3-40, put Driffield in command.

Driffield’s reply was totally dominated by Kelvin Walker, who was able to just reach 100 not out when the win was notched. James Foster provided sound support with 36.

Beverley’s Paul Best cracked an unbeaten 103 and B Dobson made 54 as their side passed Clifton Alliance’s 196-9 to win by eight wickets.

For Clifton, John Myers made 52 and Kev Bradley 40 as Kieran Thompson took 3-50.

Thorp Arch & Boston Spa remain winless after losing by 81 runs to Londesborough Park.

Park made 214 all out thanks to 109 from James Hanley as Nitikant Kasana took 4-27.

Matt Bentley then batted well for TABS in making 63 not out, but was devoid of appreciable support as Mark Tissiman, with 4-21, and Hanley, who took 3-10, combined to topple the Arch for 133.
