PICKERING kept up the pressure on the Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League division one pacesetters with a two-wicket win over Selby at Mill Lane.

The Pikes batted first and closed on 153-8 thanks mainly to an unbeaten 29 from Chris Nichols.

Skipper Matty Hoyle (39) led the Selby charge, ably supported by Tom Collins (33) and Lee Wild (27), but their efforts fell just short as they were bowled out for 147.

Driffield remain without a win this season after they were soundly beaten by 126 runs at leaders Heworth.

Neil Johnson (65) led the way for Heworth as they amassed 223-8, with support from Oliver Sherwood (50) and Andrew Simpson (25).

The visitors' reply ended on 97 as Tom Neal (3-25) and Rich Walton (3-13) held sway.

Bolton Percy lost at home to Sessay in low-scoring game. The hosts were shot out for 76, thanks mainly to England Under-19s ace Karl Carver’s 4-13. The visitors lost four wickets as they reached their target in 26 overs.

Acomb enjoyed a resounding victory over newly-promoted Malton & Old Malton.

Simon Brown claimed 6-21 in 12 overs, including six maiden overs, as the visitors were skittled for 64. Martin Pepper led the victory charge with 30 off 14 deliveries.

Bridlington lost their first game of the season at Folkton & Flixton and dropped to second. Brid totalled 202-9 with Simon Leeson scoring 65 and Nick Tennant 39.

Neil Elvidge then hit 83, Harry Walmsley 44 and Nick Zakrzewski 37 in a five-wicket win.

Whitkirk had a 64-run win over winless Goole Town at Westfield.
