AN unbeaten 58 from Salman Syed saw division five leaders Heworth II to a narrow two-wicket victory at Londesborough Park.

Batting first, Park made 138-7 with Sam Dodd scoring 25, Ed Smith 27 and Tom Williamson 29 not out. Graham Knott kept things under control for Heworth with 3-18.

His side then struggled against Joe Shingles, who took 4-20, but Syed’s batting was the telling factor as Heworth won at 139-8.

The meeting of the bottom two resulted in Hornsea recording one of the day’s biggest wins as they defeated Bolton Percy by 128 runs, virtually consigning Bolton to the drop.

Rob I’Anson hit 94 for the hosts and Tom Walker made 35, Greg Jordan 76 and Luke Berzins an unbeaten 32 in a total of 271-6.

Jordan then took 5-57 to dismiss Bolton for 143.

Castleford fielded ten men at Selby and were bowled out for 130 as Jeff Romans (4-26) and Steve Precious (5-37) put the home side in control.

Selby were then set on the victory trail by openers Ed Townend (48) and Tom Sherwood (34), who posted 95 for the first wicket en route to a seven-wicket win.

Promotion-chasing Sheriff Hutton Bridge drew with visiting Yapham after recovering from 6-3.

Opener David Philips rescued the Bridge with a career-best score of 131 not out as he figured in two century partnerships.

He added 119 for the fourth wicket with Jordan Grose, whose 54 was his maiden league half-century, and he was then joined in a fifth wicket stand of 108 by skipper Danny Kiernan, who made 44 before declaring on 244-6 in 42 overs.

Yapham were in trouble at 55-5 as Dominic Atkinson took 4-29. Joe Moore made 28, but Jordan Grose’s 3-30 put the Bridge in a winning position.

A defiant 40 by Matt Booth earned Yapham a draw at 143-8.

Stillington’s Barry Milburn hit 110 not out in his side’s draw with York IV. Tim Jarvis (81) and Jack Cartwright (51no) helped Stillington to declare at 251-1. York made 163-5.
