Fine performances from skipper Adam Fisher and teenage bowler Ed Barnes enabled Sheriff Hutton Bridge to underline their Hunters York & District Senior Cricket League premier division runners-up credentials by winning at third-placed Dunnington.

Bridge were given a solid start by Paul Oldfield (32) and Mark Fisher (38) but were only 90-2 at the half way stage. Fisher then totally dominated the second half of the innings as he cracked an unbeaten 114 off only 83 deliveries as SHB totalled 268-4.

After bowling two unstoppable four-byes deliveries, Barnes gained the prize wicket of Collis King, who sportingly walked after edging to keeper Ben Gill. The Barnes-Gill combination then claimed two more scalps and Barnes gained his fourth success in his first seven-over spell when he dismissed Kev Bradley for 36.

Harwood Williams (42) and Adam Sutcliffe (24) resurrected the reply but Barnes broke the stand when he took a good catch off Ben Harrison before returning to the attack to improve his figures to 5-37. The Dunnington innings ended with a run out at 182.

Bottom placed Selby gained a valuable 24 points from a draw against Acomb. Tom Collins hit his second century of the season, making exactly 100 while Jamie Wheeler hit 28 and Matt Clark added 25 in Selby’s 211. Joe Dale and Andy Tute each grabbed a quartet of victims. When Acomb replied, Gareth Roberts threatened with 3-55 but the experienced Richard Sykes guided his side to a draw at 178-8 with an undefeated 34.

Clifton Alliance’s Alex Renton produced the second best bowling figures of the season in the top-flight when he captured 7-31. This caused York to struggle to 166-9 with Ian Jarvis (28) and Tom Forsdike (27) being the pick of the batting.

Clifton found runs hard to get as Jake Murphy retaliated with 5-41. John Gilham made 53no but lacked support and the Alliance were relieved to gain a draw with their last pair at the crease on 154-9.

Fourth-placed Easingwold were dismissed for what is thought to be their lowest premier division total when they were whipped out for 76 with Oliver Pimlott grabbing 6-42 in 15 overs for visiting Stamford Bridge. Bridge won by seven wickets to move up to third place.

Hull Zingari ensured promotion to the premier division after emphatically crushing hosts Heworth by ten wickets.

Matt Scarr recorded his third five-wicket haul with 5-40 as Heworth were toppled for 95 with only Oliver Sherwood 35 offering resistance. Zingari raced home with Guy Martinson hitting 55no as he outstripped 1,000 run maker Jack Storey who was unbeaten with 40.

Veteran all-rounder Dave Greenlay played a major role in Pickering’s 54-run win over Folkton & Flixton.

Greenlay made 32 as he and Ryan Boyes (38no) helped Pickering to 149 despite a 5-26 return by Rich Malthouse. Greenlay then picked up 3-13 which saw Folkton tumble to 95 all out.

Bolton Percy’s Jacob Green sparkled with both bat and ball at home to Woodhouse Grange.

He came within a mere two runs of becoming only the fourth player to hit a century and take seven wickets in a game. Green had moved to 98 when he was dismissed. With Pete Houseman making 28, Bolton reached 200-9 as Matt Shepherd claimed 3-47.

Green then claimed 7-15 to wreck Woodhouse’s innings. Jon Bean showed his class with 67, while Shepherd added 22, but Green’s bowling had Grange out for 131.

Malton & Old Malton took over the leadership after beating fourth-placed Hornsea by eight wickets. Richard Medforth made 64 but the home attack of Mike Linsley, with 5-28, and A Hudson 3-31 had the visitors all out for 100. Malton’s response saw Wayne Dawson fall for 33 and T Hoggard for 28 before Martyn Woodliffe’s undefeated 27 saw Malton home at 104-2.

Tadcaster Magnet confirmed their status when they beat visiting Hull by three wickets.

Ben Watkin made 77 as John Hill took 4-24 in a Hull total of 175-7. Hill then followed with 37 as he combined with Ed Day (54) and Paul Clark (39) to successfully combat Jason Helwig’s 3-33.
